At Maryland Counseling Services, we understand that the teenage years are difficult for adolescents and their families. When you’re parenting a teenager, it’s easy to fall into the trap of blaming them for their behavior and their attitude. After all, you’ve given them everything a parent could give them. You may have even given them opportunities you didn’t have when you were growing up. Alternately, you may blame yourself. If your teenager is having problems at home, school, or with the legal system, you may ask yourself where you went wrong. At Maryland Counseling Services, we can provide therapy for teenagers and adolescents to help them work through issues they may not be able to do so on their own. We also provide help for parents through psychoeducation, parenting tips, and helping communicate information to their teen.​

At Maryland Counseling Services, we understand the importance of helping children work through their issues and giving them the freedom to share their stories. Children are incredibly resilient, but they’re susceptible to the same stressors and traumas as adults. However, unlike adults, they don’t always know how to express and release their stress and frustration, and they often lack the tools or coping skills to deal with difficult situations.

With our kid we use Child Centered Play Therapy to help them express their feelings and emotions. 

Matt is specifically trained to work with the first responder population.  He is a retired law enforcement officer with almost 20 years of experience. He has worked with dozens of officers involved in shooting. He's debriefed officers involved in the January 6th attacks on the Capitol. Working with this population is our specialty!

We provide Couples Counseling for couples who are going through difficult times or just need ways to improve their communication. 

We also provide specialized groups. 

Previous groups offered were Dungeons and Dragons for adolescents, a support group for Officers Involved in shootings. 

In the future we plan to offer groups for adolescents on communication, team building, and social skills. 

We will be offering 3 day therapy intensives for individuals who were unfaithful to their spouses and need help now! We work through the causes, behaviors, education, and ways to improve and maintain that improvement to help save your relationship. You will leave here a better and stronger person not just for your relationship, but for you as a person.
